An Apology

I want to apologize to you all, for being a lousy webmiss. Well, I'm thinking in re-doing the site all over again but with new content. I thought the site was a bit cold by just having news, so now as the title says, it will be more like a blog. You'll have your latest news but just the ones I think are really important (or that I have a comment for) and give my points of view and all that jazz.

I also want it to be more interactive with you guys, so... I'll try to come up with good ideas :). But for that I'll need time. And I don't want to rush myself with it because I really want it to be an enjoyable site.

For now I'm off... but I'll be back... I promise :D.

Service for George Harrison at Cavern Walks

On Thursday, six years after the ex-Beatle died, cards, flowers and tributes will be laid at the Fab Four statue in the Cavern Walks shopping arcade.

The New Liverpool Beatles Appreciation Society will be holding a special service from 10am.

Heather Mills asks Paul McCartney to spend Christmas with her

Heather Mills has shocked estranged hubby Sir Paul McCartney by asking if she can spend the festive holidays with him and their daughter Bea, 4.

The former glamour model made the bizarre proposal because last year she was left on her tod.

'Heather spent most of last Christmas Day alone while Bea was with her father,' a source reveals.

This year Paul is due to get Bea again and Heather suggested a family reunion.

'It beggars belief, but she asked him if he wants to spend Christmas Day together,' says the insider.

'As you'd imagine Paul isn't too keen on the idea especially after her latest round of rants.'

The 39-year-old has accused the media of treating her like a paedophile, encouraged the public to drink rats' milk and blamed Sir Paul, 65, for not putting an end to her persecution by the media.

'He thinks she should pipe down. He wasn't especially hurt by comments that he wasn't doing anything to protect his family,' the source tells the Sunday Express.

'He always sees Bea is protected when she's not in his care. As for Christmas he wants to make sure she is as happy as Larry. There's no way Heather would be welcome at a gathering like that.'

Director defends Lennon film

FILM director Andrew Piddington came to Liverpool last night to defend his new film The Killing of John Lennon.

The movie, which concentrates on Lennon’s killer Mark Chapman, was given its regional premiere at FACT prior to a national release on December 7.

Piddington admitted he had been nervous about showing the film in Lennon’s birthplace.

“I thought a lot about playing the film in Liverpool.

“Then I thought Liverpool had a history of confronting issues and debates, and it seemed the right thing to do in the end to stand up with the film and say, ‘This has been made, let’s talk about it’.”

Piddington spent four years making the film with a cast of unknowns including lead actor Jonas Ball as Chapman.

Piddington said last night: “The film does not condone or exonerate Mark Chapman and while it is a human film it is in no way sympathetic to him.”

Musicians will 'come together' for Beatles tribute concert

FARMINGTON - The Pond Duck Quintet will perform the Beatles' historic "Abbey Road" album Saturday, Dec. 8, at the University of Maine at Farmington's Nordica Auditorium. Three of the five band members are UMF students, including two music majors and a music minor.

"Abbey Road" was the 11th and final album that The Beatles recorded and is believed by many to be one of the best. Although "Let it Be" was released later, it was, in fact, recorded previous to "Abbey Road."

"Abbey Road is truly one of the greatest Beatles albums, if not one of the greatest albums of all time," said guitarist Sheridan Ellis. It was also the most commercially successful album by the Beatles, quickly reaching No. 1 on charts in both the United States and in the United Kingdom.

Bassist Nathaniel Burns has been interested in performing "Abbey Road" since the summer of 2006. His idea finally started to come together that winter when he began discussing the project with pianist and keyboard player Andrew Thompson while traveling in Italy. The two started listening to the album endlessly to get the musical notations perfected for every song. The quintet played a few select songs from the album last spring at the first annual Arts Night at UMF.

Ellis, Burns and drummer Graham Duval were the foundation of the original Pond Duck Trio. The band expanded to five members, bringing in Thompson and longtime collaborator Justin Labbe as vocalist and back-up guitarist.

The concert, which is open to the public, will be on the 27th anniversary of John Lennon's death outside his New York City apartment in 1980. "I'm really excited to play 'Abbey Road,'" said Ellis, "especially on a day of remembrance for John Lennon" - who wrote or assisted in writing many Beatles songs, including "Come Together," the opening song in "Abbey Road."

The concert will be performed in two sets, one for each side of the original LP.

Doors will open at 7 p.m., with the concert to start at 8 o'clock. There will be a suggested donation for admission.

Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney is reportedly dating ‘Pulp Fiction’ actress Rosanna Arquette—the exact double of his estranged wife Heather Mills.

First of all, Rosanna doesn't look like Heather, she has normal teeth, two legs, and she's actually pretty (Oh, and she isn't a slut, at least she has a job). AND, even if she's older than Mrs. Gold digger, she looks great.

Another witness added: “Paul looked very flirty. They had a couple of cuddles and a kiss. The sparks were there for everyone to see.”

A source close to Paul said: “I wonder how much Nancy knows about this friendship. Just a few weeks ago Paul was giving her the same attention in New York. It’ll put the cat among the pigeons.”

I'm really jealous about girls around Paul right now, I don't really want any female near him, not because he's mine or I own him or something, I'm not a bloody psycho, but because he had been hurt so many times I'm just sick of worrying about him, like if he was a kid or something. But just the other day I was thinking of how girls back in the sixties felt about him being a womenizer (the kind of fans that cried when he married Linda *wtf*) now I think I know how they felt about it. C'mon, he's bloody 65 and he's been linked to so many girls the past few months I've already lost track of them all.

After Heather I breathed in relief that I didn't have to worry about gold digging bitches anymore, well, it got worse, before it was only ONE, now we have a whole world of possibilities. I just wish Paul wasn't so dependent of female company, or better yet, I wish he wasn't such a romantic guy, not all you need is love Paulie, just screw around but don't ever get married again, PLEASE!. Most girls nowadays are really shallow, and only cares about money and fame (look at Heather), I just don't want another one like that with Paul.

Paul McCartney is hoping to launch his son James' music career - by helping him record a debut album.

The 30-year-old drummer and guitarist - who is the former Beatles star's son with first wife Linda - has already appeared on two of his solo albums, but is keen to launch his own LP.

McCartney, 65, says: "I'm actually doing some recording with my son. We're just looking at the idea of him making an album. He's doing it all. He's writing it all, laying it all. It's sensational. But there's
nothing set yet. We don't know if it'll work.

"The plan is for me to just do some recording with him, and it's really exciting. I'm really loving it."

Their studio efforts are expected to be released next year.

My comment: Ok, I'm going bloody insane right now, AHHHH!!! I love James, why? I still ignore why I just like him, and AHHHH if he releases an album there would be more information about him, more pictures, even videos!!! I just really really hope this gets done.

CHRISTMAS cards with a drawing by John Lennon are to be sold again by Oxfam.

His yellow Fat Budgie picture was first used on the charity's cards in 1965 - at the height of Beatlemania.

They have been reprinted for the first time this year with his widow Yoko Ono's permission. She has already ordered 200 of the cards.

She said: "John supported Oxfam so it is wonderful that his illustration can continue to help Oxfam in its important work."

Lennon gave them permission to use the drawing, which was taken from his book A Spaniard In The Works.

The relaunch marks the 50th anniversary of Oxfam's Christmas cards.

The Fat Budgie cards will be sold in packs of 10 for £2.99 in Oxfam stores. Their first ever design, A Robin, is also being reprinted.

Last night's Gibson GuitarTown London charity auction at indigO2 in London's O2 Arena saw a variety of 10-foot Gibson Les Paul guitar sculptures and custom-decorated Gibson SG guitars (also celebrity-signed) sold to raise money for Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy, The Prince’s Trust and Teenage Cancer Trust. The fiberglass sculpture painted in acrylics by cartoonist and illustrator Rosie Brooks and autographed by Sir Paul McCartney brought the highest bid of the evening, £60,000 or approximately $123,912 USD. "I just fancied playing with a big guitar! I think this one will hopefully catch the imagination of the public and whoever is going to buy it at the auction and raise money for The Prince's Trust, Teenage Cancer Trust and Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy, which are all great charities," McCartney said in September when he autographed the sculpture, titled "And The Crowd Goes Wild."

From June to September 2007, 30 hand-painted, free standing, 10-foot Gibson Les Paul replica guitar sculptures were on public display at More London on London's South Bank by City Hall, SE1, while while 30 hand-painted and celebrity-signed regular sized Gibson SG guitars were publicly displayed around The O2 in Greenwich.

“London is one of my favorite European cities with an outstanding musical environment. Gibson GuitarTown London will be a momentous and unique public exhibition, raising money for three fantastic charities with the support of many of Britain’s top musical names. Heather Mills furious at Paul McCartney kiss

According to reports, Heather Mills, the former wife of Sir Paul McCartney, literally flipped her lid when she saw Paul on the front page of British newspaper The Sun - kissing a married woman.

According to reports, Heather, 39, rang Paul, 65, for a showdown, claiming that their 4-year-old daughter Beatrice, recognized him on the front cover of The Sun newspaper with millionaire lawyer’s wife Nancy Shevell.

According to British newspaper The Sun, Heather, who hit out at Paul McCartney Live on US & UK TV last week, was seen sobbing in front of staff at her $6.4 million home.

A source close to Sir Paul told the newspaper: “Heather flipped over The Sun’s pictures — a real blind rage.

“Apparently Beatrice saw the paper on the table and recognized Daddy. Heather was straight on the phone to Paul to tell him he was a bloody hypocrite.

“He was staggered at her TV appearances and has made it clear he wasn’t happy. But he’s just laid back about the whole thing now. He’s kept a dignified silence while she’s ranted to anyone who’ll listen.

“He told her to get on with her life because he was getting on with his. She wasn’t very happy.”

Following Heather’s TV outbursts last week, Sir Paul declared he wants custody of daughter Beatrice - because Heather has claimed her life is at risk, and she’s being “followed by hitmen.”

Paul, who’s worth an estimated $1.6 billion is demanding that he has Beatrice every weekend, rather than every other one — a request denied by Heather.

And he wants Beatrice’s half-sister, fashion designer Stella McCartney, Paul’s daughter by his late wife Linda — to be allowed to occasionally look after the little girl.

Liverpool John Lennon Airport adopts Beatles theme for 2008

THE Beatles have been drafted in to ensure Liverpool John Lennon airport is a “fab not drab” experience for passengers.

John, Paul, George and Ringo are taking up permanent residence in the airport’s departure lounge in the shape of seven huge images charting the group’s time in India.

The photographs, taken in 1968 during what many consider to be the band’s most creative period, are up to eight foot high and 23 feet wide.

The permanent new arrivals, unveiled last night, are displayed in illuminated boxes along the main wall of the departure lounge above the duty free shops.

The photographs, which show the band sitting in Indian dress, were taken by Toronto-based double Emmy-award winner Paul Saltzman.

He spent a week with The Beatles after bumping into them as a back packer.

Lennon, mistress planned secret love-nest: book

John Lennon once planned to make a getaway with his personal assistant May Pang to a cosy home in Montauk, reveals an upcoming book.

In Instamatic Karma, Pang writes that she and the late Beatle got very impressed with a lovely Scottish-style cottage during a visit to the place in 1975.

She has revealed that the cottage was next to the famed lighthouse owned by renowned photographer-artist Peter Beard.

Lennon was so impressed with the cottage that he asked the real agent to show them the place, reveals the book.

We fell in love with it and were about to put a binder on it the weekend of February 1st,” the New York Post quotes Pang as writing in the book.

Pang, however, has not revealed why Lennon changed his mind about buying the house in the last minute.

“Some things just weren’t meant to be,” she writes.

The book is scheduled for release in March from St. Martin’s.

Lennon’s glasses stolen

A souvenir hunter has stolen John Lennon’s famous round glasses off a statue at the airport bearing his name.

They formed part of a 7ft bronze of the ex-Beatle that was unveiled by Yoko Ono in March 2002. Sculptor Tom Murphy said: “It’s a real shame. They were attached to the statue which has been damaged when they were taken off. We’ve put on a temporary pair and are getting a new pair recast soon.” The monument stands on a plinth overlooking the check-in desks at Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport.

Ringo Starr has declared that his 14th solo album, 'Liverpool 8', will be released digitally and on CD on January 15.

The album – his first with the Capitol label since 1974's 'Goodnight Vienna' – will be launched on January 12 as part of Liverpool's '2008 Capital of Culture' celebrations.

The upbeat title track will be released as a digital single on December 4. Speaking of the track, Ringo explains that it "refers to the section of Liverpool where I used to live. The song was actually Dave Stewart's idea, as a mini autobiographical travelogue: 'I was a sailor first ... ' and then, 'Liverpool I left you' – because I did. 'but I never let you down,' which is true."

Ringo Starr's Beatles Art Show will be on display at the Granite Run Mall outside Philadelphia from November 23 - December 24. The show will feature the full collection of hand-signed fine art pieces from the Fab Four's drummer, along with artwork from the rest of the Beatles. It will be the largest collection of signed Beatles artwork ever exhibited for the public.

Did John Lennon own the mystery guitar?

A GUITAR that may have once belonged to John Lennon will be displayed at an event being held on Sunday by a Warrington musician.

Cinnamon Brow resident Peter Hoarty says the Hofner Congress belongs to his friend and fellow musician, Dave Treloar.

Mr Treloar bought the guitar from the son of a Plymouth hotel owner who said Lennon had left it behind after a visit back in the 1960s.

He said: "I bought it from a guy called John Gibbings back in 1996, whose father had owned the Bigbury Bay Hotel.

"Off the coast is a place called Burgh Island where the Beatles stayed when they played Plymouth in 63.

"Lennon came back and stayed at the hotel with friends and, when he came to pay the bill, he apparently didn't have the cash on him so left the guitar behind while he went into Plymouth to get some.

"The story goes that he never came back - that's what John grew up on and what he told me when I bought it."

Mr Treloar, a 58-year-old health care assistant from Devon, said that, although Lennon was not renowned for using a Hofner Congress on stage with the Beatles, it was the sort of guitar he or one of his friends may have liked to take away on weekends out of the limelight.

British pop icon Sir Paul McCartney was pleasantly surprised by the vast amount of material available for his new DVD, "The McCartney Years."

The three-disc set features videos from throughout his solo career along with live footage and a newly recorded commentary track by McCartney. The former Beatle says he was "dreading" the project initially but is thrilled with the results.

"I thought, 'Oh, no, God -- there's not enough good stuff yet,' " McCartney explains. "But looking at it, I think some of the stuff I was a bit scared of I didn't need to be scared off. Especially as it's all been re-polished and buffed up, it looks at its shiny best and sounds good, they seem to stand up quite well.

"Once you see it all en mass, it's particularly warming."

DIRECTOR NEEDED HELP FOR ‘HELP!’

Richard Lester has heard the knocks against “Help!” the second film he directed starring the Beatles, none more hard-hitting than a famous one from John Lennon.

“What John said, if I can remember the quote is, ‘I was an extra in my own ... film!’ ” Lester, 75, said last week from his home in West Sussex, England.

“I understand that. They were never going to play the Four Musketeers. They had to play themselves. ... We had to overlay a (comedic) plot on them, and when you do that with them playing themselves, you can see why he felt he was a minor part in his own film. But I disagree.”

Lester’s 1965 comedy has been sonically and visually upgraded for DVD and, since its reissue last week , the 42-year-old film has jumped into the top 20 of Amazon.com’s DVD rankings along with such recent blockbusters as “Ratatouille,” “Spider-Man 3” and “Shrek the Third.”

Lester, who went on to direct big-screen treatments of “The Three Musketeers” and “The Four Musketeers” as well as “Superman II,” has long heard “Help!” belittled next to its predecessor, “A Hard Day’s Night,” the Fab Four’s widely acknowledged rock-movie classic, also directed by Lester.

“I thought (Help!’) was the harder thing to pull off,” he said, “and I think we pulled it off about as well as we could.”

Yoko Ono Did Sell Out John Lennon to JCPenney

Yoko Ono did sell John Lennon’s rare home recording of "Real Love" to JCPenney for a commercial.

The spot began airing on Sunday night during ABC’s "Brothers & Sisters" before JCPenney could even make the announcement.

The Beatles have had their songs licensed for commercials in the past, but with the rare exception of perhaps "Revolution" years ago, they never have allowed master recordings out. The songs are always re-recorded.

Ad agency Saatchi and Saatchi handled the deal, I’m told, with Ono directly. The much-disliked widow of Lennon has sold a number of items under her late husband’s name over the years, including glasses, art and an action figure. But using a rare, acoustic home recording — and a beautiful, haunting one at that — as the Christmas song for a department store seems particularly greedy.

Beatles online soon says Sir Paul

The Beatles' music should be available online next year, Sir Paul McCartney has told a US music website.

"It's down to fine-tuning, but I'm pretty sure it'll be happening next year, 2008," he told Billboard.com.

The Fab Four are one of the last major acts to withhold their back catalogue from stores like iTunes and Napster.

Sir Paul said the delay was due to contractual issues and planning by all parties involved. "You've got to get these things right," he said.

"You don't want to do something that's as cool as that and in three years time you think, 'Oh God, why did we do that?'"

Sir Paul added: "There's just maybe one little sticking point left, and I think it's being cleared up as we speak, so it shouldn't be too long."

Albums by the late Beatle George Harrison were made available online last month, meaning solo music by all four band members can now be bought digitally.

John Lennon's memory lives on in a showing of his art

IMAGINE all the people who would flock to a beachside gallery exhibition in Noosa to get an eyeful of John Lennon in the nude.

There won't be an actual nude of the Beatle – not that he was averse to getting his kit off – but limited edition prints, including several erotic works he drew himself.

About 70 of Lennon's print reproductions will be on display – and for sale – at The Cooper Gallery in Noosa for four days from Saturday.

The exhibition, entitled Imagine the Art of John Lennon, includes several rare lithograph prints of naked figures from the Bag One Suite published in 1970, which caused such a furore in London when they were first exhibited that they were confiscated by Scotland Yard for being "indecent and likely to cause offence" and the case went to trial.

In these enlightened times the artworks are mere bagatelles, given the depravity that bombards us daily.

The Noosa exhibition will include several reproductions from Lennon's sketchbooks, which his widow, Yoko Ono, opened in 1986. Under the auspices of her company, Bag One Arts Inc, Ono has also published limited edition reproductions of Lennon's sketches.

Prices for the works will range from $500 to more than $20,000.

Lennon, who was shot dead on December 8, 1980, graduated from the Liverpool Art Institute in 1960 with the intention of becoming a commercial artist.

Despite the phenomenal success of The Beatles, he managed to maintain his sketching skills and held more than a dozen exhibitions in his lifetime, as well as writing and illustrating three books of poetry.

Ono works hard to maintain Lennon's memory. On October 9, when Lennon would have turned 67, she opened a massive light tower on a lonely stretch of Icelandic coastline outside the nation's capital, Reykjavik.

The tower will send a beam of light into the sky every year between October 9 and December 8.

A plaque at the site is engraved with Imagine Peace in 24 languages and buried in the grounds is a capsule containing thousands of wishes from Ono's wish trees, which she established in 1981 as a way to commemorate Lennon's life.

It's the same commitment to her husband that prompted the Imagine the Art of John Lennon art exhibition.

And the outcome of that titillating 1970s trial? The magistrate hearing the case dismissed it, declaring that Lennon's prints were "unlikely to deprave or corrupt".

I own three communities about The Beatles, BeatleSecret, Beatle Review and Beatles Couch, I also own other two sites, a fan site about Chester Bennington called Chester-Land and a fandoms blog called FANatic. But I've always wanted to have my own Beatles' Site, I had one called One After 707 with my wonderful cyber sis Pattie but I didn't really liked it. I didn't have enough time to work on it but I kept the idea of having a Beatles' site in the back of my mind until now that I finally made it and hopefully, I will keep it for a long long time.

Making fan-sites and graphic designs had been my hobbies for like 10 years now, and I really enjoy working on my sites and communities. Sir Paul McCartney And Heather Mills' Fight Over "Mysterious" House

Sir Paul McCartney and Heather Mills' divorce settlement has come to a standstill over a £6 million house.

The Beatles legend, who split from the former model in May 2006 following a four-year marriage, bought the Beverly Hills mansion from rocker Courtney Love as an engagement present for Heather in 2001.

Heather, 39, insists the house belongs to her, but Paul has become emotionally attached to the property and is reluctant to let it go.

A source said: "Neither side will budge. It is deadlock. Heather helped choose the house, she persuaded Paul to buy it and it was an engagement gift to her. That is certainly what she is telling people.

"To Heather the home represents the glitzy lifestyle she was thrilled to marry into. And she intends to spend a lot of time in Los Angeles, building up her profile over there."

Paul, 65, is unwilling to relinquish the house - situated on Heather Road - because of its "mysterious" ties to fellow Beatle George Harrison's death in November 2001.

The source added to a British newspaper: "Paul has never been a fan of California - he prefers the quiet life. But Heather Road became very important to him around the time of George's death.

There is still a mystery, known only to Paul, George's family and a few others about his final hours. His death certificate had a false address. It has been said he passed away in Heather Road in the presence of his wife Olivia and Hare Krishna mentors. Paul invited George to stay at the house just days before he died."

Paul spends most of his time at his £12 million Peasmarsh estate in West Sussex.

He also owns a £2 million Mull of Kintyre estate, in Scotland, a £5 million London mansion and a ranch in the US.

Last week, it was reported Heather had demanded a £50 million divorce settlement from Paul and vowed to take him to court if he didn't pay up.

Heather was even said to be threatening to take their three-year-old daughter Beatrice to the US for an extended stay in a bid to convince Paul to agree to the staggering sum.

Heather Mills has flown to the US to plan a Hollywood film about her life - and she wants Oscar-winner Reese Witherspoon to take the starring role.

She went there after the deadline she set her estranged husband Sir Paul McCartney to agree a £50million divorce passed without a settlement.

Miss Mills called on Sir Paul to reach a deal by close of business on Friday or face the worst she could throw at him in court, on screen and in a new biography.

Sir Paul's lawyers had not been in touch by the deadline and on Friday evening Miss Mills, 39, flew out to begin a media barrage. She is having a meeting in Los Angeles with American film writer and producer Robert von Dassanowsky to discuss the making of a film of her life.

She is keen to get Reese Witherspoon, 31, who won a best actress Oscar last year for her portrayal of June Carter Cash in Walk the Line, to play her.

A well-placed source told the Mail: "Heather has been working for some time on the biopic. Of course it had all been shelved while she thought they were heading for a settlement.

"But the script was dusted off pretty rapidly over the weekend. She had wanted Heather Locklear to play her. She now feels someone with slightly more credibility like Reese Witherspoon should play her. Heather wants an unknown to play Paul.

"Heather sees this film as the tragic and empowering story of her life - a young model who gets run over and loses her leg, overcomes her difficulties and marries her prince. But the most interesting part of the tale will be the dark goings on between the couple behind closed doors."

On Friday, Miss Mills flew to New York to arrange an interview with US chat show host Larry King in which, sources say, she "will not hold back".

She is also lining up an appearance on Oprah Winfrey's TV show and is expected to appear on the new season of U.S. TV hit Dancing with the Stars as a guest star.

Last night, spokesmen for Miss Mills and Sir Paul, 65, refused to comment on the progress of the divorce.

McCartney says delete button can be good for the mind

PARIS: Paul McCartney says we all need to make room in our minds for some new memories.

Speaking about his latest album, "Memory Almost Full," McCartney said Monday that the inspiration for the title came from a phrase he saw on his cell phone.

"It seemed symbolic of our lives today," he said. "Your messages are always full. And your mind is full. And it doesn't matter if you're my age or 20. I think that we all need to delete stuff every so often."

The 65-year-old McCartney made his first appearance at the Olympia theater in 1964 — with the Beatles — a performance that caused havoc in the streets of Paris. He returned to the theater that made Edith Piaf famous nearly a decade later with Wings, the group that gave him a new life on the stage in the post-Beatles era.

Dressed casually in jeans and sneakers, McCartney treated the press to a concert preview of "Let It Be" and "Lady Madonna," singing and playing the piano. He reminisced about visiting Paris with John Lennon before they were world renowned.

"I think the only time we came to the Olympia was when we played here. It was too expensive so we went to a little dirty dance hall instead," he said.

McCartney also answered questions about his decision earlier this year to leave EMI Records for a deal with Hear Music, a startup label launched by coffee retailer Starbucks Corp. and Concord Music Group.

The singer was fed up with the lack of responsiveness by record companies as music distribution changed.

In the United States, he said, "supermarkets started to sell it ... So the business was changing, everything was changing. I started to think that the record companies didn't know how to deal with it and they were getting boring and jaded," he said.

"If you're among 300 artists whose album is coming out, they have no time for you," he added.

McCartney was less talkative about his messy divorce with model Heather Mills.

"We are here to talk about music," a press officer said. "Artistic questions and only artistic questions are welcome."

Yoko to donate all album proceeds to Darfur

Yoko Ono has pledged to donate the royalties from the newly-released 'Make Some Noise' album to a human rights charity in an effort to raise awareness about the Darfur crisis.

The album - a compilation of cover versions of her late husband John Lennon's most well-known songs - includes tracks by rockers R.E.M and U2.

And 74-year-old Ono insists she wants to harness the LP's pulling power to make money for Amnesty International, as she believes genocide in the Sudanese region wrongly takes a back seat to the war in Iraq.

"Iraq is a terrible daily tragedy but the Darfur crisis should share the same level of focus," she said.

"That's why I am donating all of the royalties from the 'Make Some Noise' album to Amnesty International, aimed primarily at raising funds for Darfur."

Heather Mills plans to destroy Paul McCartney

Things seems to be getting worse for poor old Paul McCartney, after his former wife (you know, her with the wooden leg) is furious that he reduced his previous offer to £25m ($50m).

A source close to the 65-year-old former Beatles star told Britain’s News Of The World: “This is a final offer. Paul’s sick of her.

“He’s adamant that he’s not offering her any more deals and has sworn that after this there will be no more bargaining.

“If Heather knocks this one back he has instructed his lawyers to tell her to go to hell and he’ll see her in court —where a judge will decide it.”

As previously reported, McCartney wants Heather to accept a deal that includes a gagging order that’ll prevent her from ever revealing embarrassing details of their five-year marriage, however, top legal experts are predicting that after battling it out in court a judicial ruling could prove to be even more disappointing for Heather.

And, according to Britain’s News Of The World, Heather has already lined up a lucrative, high-profile, megamoney appearances and deals to reveal all the sordid details about life with the veteran rocker.

According to the paper, Heather plans to destroy Paul’s image by:

“Filming a warts-and-all TV series for an American network laying bare her troubled years with the pop icon.

Tell All to television chat show host Oprah Winfrey, revealing every detail about the reasons behind their traumatic split.

Sign a multi-million-pound book contract to hit back at all the media stories about her vice shame past.

Push ahead with a deal for her own chat show in the US to cement her status as a rapidly-rising star over there.”

A source in Heather’s legal team said: “She is npt ready to sign a confidentiality agreement.

“Following Heather’s successful stint on the ABC show Dancing with the Stars, she’s in talks with the network about a potential series on her life with Paul.

“There’s also talk that she’s provisionally been booked to go on Oprah to discuss it all, and following on from that could even be offered her own talk show.

“Plus she’s right on the verge of signing a huge publishing deal to write a book and tell the lot.

“All these projects would net Heather millions but signing a gagging clause will scupper all of that.

“So she’s weighing up her options very carefully and won’t be rushed into anything.

“She knows Paul is itching to sign a deal but she’s not going to give him that satisfaction.”

Late Beatle George Harrison has finally made it onto the iTunes Store as a solo artist, at last completing the Fab Four’s presence there, while not as the group, at least as solo acts.

Harrison was the last holdout, as John Lennon’s tracks recently have made it onto the store. Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney are already on, and Harrison’s presence on the Store hints at the inevitability of an awaited kinda-sorta historic virtual reunion, and the first time that the group will be available online legally.

At the moment, only several Harrison albums are there, most notably a 2001 double-disc remastered version of All Things Must Pass, which includes alternate versions of some of his popular tracks. See them here.

George Harrison's Aston Martin DB5 up for auction

A platinum-colored Aston Martin DB5 once owned by the late George Harrison is expected to fetch $250,000 to $300,000 when it crosses the auction block in London late this month.

The car was built in 1964 and delivered to then-Beatle Harrison on Jan. 1, 1965, according to RM Auctions Inc., which is holding the Oct. 30 and 31 sale in partnership with Sotheby's.

The car is unrestored, according to RM. After Harrison, a Tokyo museum owned the Aston. Then it was bought in 1997 and shipped to Germany, the auction company said.

A special collection of Beatles photographs have gone on display in Glasgow for the first time.

Taken by the famous Scottish photographer Tom Murray, the snaps capture the band at the height of their fame and are thought to be worth more than £1 million.

They have been hailed as some of the best photographs ever taken of the group.

The snaps were taken by Scottish photographer Tom Murray when he was asked to work on a photo shoot in 1968.

Little did he know it would involve the biggest music icons of the decade.

COWELL AND LENNON PROJECT IN PIPELINE

The unlikely partnership will see Lennon, 44, come out of musical exile to release his first album since 1998's Photograph Smile. McCartney and Starr coming home for Year of Culture

LONDON (Reuters) - Former Beatles Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr are coming home to celebrate Liverpool's year as European Capital of Culture in 2008.

McCartney is headlining a concert at Anfield Stadium, home of Liverpool Football Club, while Starr is joining forces with Eurythmics member Dave Stewart for "Liverpool The Musical."

"It's going to be a great year," McCartney promised in a statement on Thursday detailing plans for the northern English city's cultural bonanza.

"I'm very proud of the city and I look forward to welcoming you all and showing you a good time," McCartney said.

He is headlining next June's concert which will be broadcast live to a worldwide audience. The full line-up is to be announced later.

The Liverpool musical was described as "Stravinsky meets Hip Hop" with an eclectic cast ranging from Ringo Starr to the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.

UTSA exhibit examines Yoko Ono, John Lennon's 'Year of Peace'

The UTSA exhibit examines the solo work of Lennon and Ono before they wed as well as following them through their "Year of Peace" from their wedding in March 1969 to March 1970. This includes their honeymoon "Bed-In for Peace" at the Amsterdam Hilton and the recording of Lennon's "Give Peace a Chance," which became an anthem of the anti-war movement.

Also, they created the "War Is Over (If You Want It)" campaign, which featured multilingual posters and billboards displayed in cities such as London, New York, Los Angeles, Paris, Berlin and Rome.

"Both of them were involved in peace before they met, and they collaborated on peace projects after they got married," said Kevin Concannon, who curated the exhibit, which opened at the University of Akron in Ohio. "They used their celebrity to promote peace, and they certainly mobilized the youth culture. They actually used their fame to do something good."

Paul McCartney: 'bassists are the fat guys who stand at the back'

Paul McCartney has said that when he joined The Beatles he was unhappy with his role as a bassist in the group.

Speaking in an interview in The Observer, McCartney admitted he thought that the role is traditionally for the outsider in the group.

He said: "At first it was the loser role in the group. It's usually the fat guy who stands at the back. So I was a bit unhappy when I got that job. I wanted to be upfront with the guitar."

Elsewhere in the interview, which was conducted by Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty, McCartney reveals that when he first met John Lennon the slight age difference between the two made him look up and respect his Beatles bandmate.

He continued: "He was a year and a half older than me and you really look up to people like that. But it's funny because I don't think I had that same feeling with Ringo, who I think was a few months older than John. John was a pretty impressive cat. Being a year and a half older and going to art school, all that was a pretty cool combination for us."

McCartney gets back, but moves on

For almost 20 years, a Paul McCartney concert has been the closest thing the world is ever going to see to a Beatles concert.

Since the Beatles remain the band that defines the best in rock 'n' roll to a large and still interested segment of America, this guarantees any McCartney show will draw a crowd. It also obligates him, in a sense, to meet some of those expectations.

Which he does. McCartney understands what the people want and knows how to deliver it while slipping in enough newer tunes to keep himself interested.

"The Space Within Us" was filmed in Anaheim, Calif., during his 2005 "Chaos and Creation in the Backyard" tour. He was in the last stages of a difficult marriage at that point, but you wouldn't know it from these 40 minutes of music.

The 14 songs run the career gamut from "Please Please Me," which came out at the very beginning of the Beatles explosion, up through 2005's "Jenny Wren."

"Jenny Wren," perhaps to the surprise of Beatles and Wings fans who mostly came to hear "Get Back" or "Yesterday," stands out as one of the best numbers in the set, both for the performance and the song itself.

The mood of the show is further buoyed by the fact that McCartney's upbeat stage personality invariably sends audiences leaping to their feet, where they clap and sing all the words.

One word of caution for Ch. 21 viewers: As you might expect, "The Space Within Us" is airing as part of a fund-raiser, so expect some interruptions.

Dennis Elsas of WFUV (90.7 FM) will be in the studio to talk about McCartney and his music, which should make the breaks a little easier to take.

McCartney's band is solid; most of its members have been working with him for years. But the way he spreads them around the periphery of the stage will still raise, for some viewers, an unfair comparison.

Hearing McCartney sing the lovely, wistful "I'll Follow the Sun," it's almost impossible for people in their 50s and 60s not to wish that just once more they could see John Lennon a few feet away from Paul at the second vocal mike, with George Harrison close behind and Ringo Starr on the drums.

McCartney's earned the success he's had on his own, and it's all to his credit that he's not afraid to conjure the memory of the Beatles in his own show.

Maybe sometimes he does it too well.

Lennon, we're told, is working on his sixth album and plans to split his time between South Beach and Europe. His new pad is swank: 1,800 square feet, two bedrooms, three baths and an ocean view.

McCartney and Mills not stuck in court according to friends

Paul McCartney and Heather Mills are closer to a divorce settlement than ever before, according to a close pal of the former Beatle.

The estranged pair attended a meeting before a judge at London's Royal Courts Of Justice on Thursday, but failed to agree on the terms of their divorce despite eight hours of talks.

McCartney and Mills, who wed in 2002 before splitting four years later, were keen to settle the dispute ahead of their daughter Beatrice's fourth birthday on October 30.

McCartney has reportedly offered Mills $40m (€29m) - but she is holding out for $100m (€72m).

But contrary to British tabloid reports claiming the former couple are stuck in a deadlock over their financial settlement, McCartney is said to be "very relaxed and happy" about the progress they have made, and is confident they will reach an agreement by Christmas.

A source tells UK newspaper The Sunday Mirror: "They are the closest they have been for years - and delighted the end is in sight.

"They are both going to be at Bea's birthday party at the end of October - and want to have good news for everyone."

George Harrison remembered for music, spirituality

The musical and spiritual legacy of former Beatles guitarist George Harrison was celebrated through music and commentary Oct. 4 as Joshua M. Greene presented Here Comes the Sun.

Harrison, who died of cancer in 2001, was a contemporary of the mystical journey, Greene said. His journey into Eastern spirituality and its reflections in his music garnered much attention for the man and the musician over the years.

Greene is the author of bestseller Here Comes the Sun: The Spiritual and Musical Journey of George Harrison. The Godfrey Townsend Trio performed musical numbers for the event, including some of Harrison's own music.

At Govinda, John and Yoko (And Chris and Annie)

Last week, Govinda Gallery owner Chris Murray threaded through the crowd at the opening reception for Annie Leibovitz's exhibition at the Corcoran Gallery of Art. He carried an oversize book titled "John & Yoko: A New York Love Story" under his arm. Leibovitz, of course, had taken the most famous John and Yoko photo ever, for Rolling Stone in 1980. Murray hadn't seen Leibovitz in years, but he sees a faded handwritten note from her every day in his office at Govinda in Georgetown.

The book accompanies the current exhibition at Govinda: photographs of Lennon and Ono by New York photojournalist Allan Tannenbaum, taken around the time of Lennon's death. But the link connecting Murray, Leibovitz, Lennon and Ono is more substantial than the book and the exhibition.

Yoko Ono's Iceland Peace Tower

Ono conceived the peace tower 40 years ago, at the outset of her relationship with Lennon. She grew up in Japan, surviving the firebombing of Tokyo. She told me, "Because of that memory of what I went through in the Second World War, it is embedded in me how terrible it is to go through war."

She continued: "I thought of building a light tower, and John loved that idea, this light tower that just emerges once in a while. And so, he actually invited me in 1967, the first time that he invited me to his house. I thought it was a party or something, but, no, it was a very quiet day. And he said, 'Well, actually, I invited you because I wanted to know if you can build the lighthouse in my garden,' and I said: 'Oh, dear, no, no. It's just a conceptual idea. I don't know how to build anything,' and I was just laughing. But that's when he wanted this light tower, and that was 40 years ago".

Macca: I'd like to give her £2m

If you're gonna be haunted by recording studio ghosts, you could do a lot worse than the spirit of John Lennon.

Just ask Keith Macpherson -- one half of local pop-rock duo Keith and Renee -- who swears he felt Lennon's presence while he and songwriting partner Renee Lamoureux were cutting their new (and aptly named) disc Revolution.

"What's really cool about recording this record was I really had the sense of John Lennon being there, like I intuited that he was present," says Macpherson, a 28-year-old River Heights resident. "The fact that we were calling it Revolution was weird enough, but also the record (came) out on Oct. 9, and that happens to be John Lennon's birthday."

Paul McCartney readies deluxe edition of latest album

Paul McCartney has announced that he will release a deluxe edition of his most recent album 'Memory Almost Full'.

The expanded package is due out in the US on November 6 via Hear Music. It features three bonus tracks, 'In Private', 'Why So Blue' and '222'.

It also contains exclusive live performance footage such as the former Beatle's 'secret show' at London's Electric Ballroom in June.

Also in the package are music videos for the singles 'Ever Present Past', which was directed by Phil Griffin, and 'Dance Tonight', directed by Michel Gondry ['Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind'] and starring actress Natalie Portman.

'Memory Almost Full' was originally released in June and has been certified Gold in the US.

Beatle sighting? Nah, it's Olie

Both the Wausau Daily Herald and Wausau station WSAW-TV carried stories last weekend about McCartney having seemingly dined at a Wausau establishment, 2510 Restaurant, last Wednesday night. The paper, under the headline "Rock legend sighted in city," quoted a patron: "I didn't get a good look at him, but it seemed like everything going on around him indicated it was him." The TV station quoted a restaurant manager saying McCartney's group was gracious and that the former Beatle was in Wausau to shoot a commercial for Wausau Insurance.

"You know," Mike Olie was saying this Wednesday, a week after the dinner at 2510 in Wausau, "I've done things like this in the past, but this was the first time everyone really did seem to think I was Paul. It blew me away. It turned out to be quite a deal."

Olie (real name, Mike Oltersdorf), lives in the north Chicago suburbs and is a Paul McCartney impersonator. He's good enough that when AOL posted a notice about McCartney's famous Concert for New York City in 2001, their original photo was of Olie, not McCartney. The impersonator has appeared on "Good Morning, America" and other shows. I found him Wednesday, after seeing his name in a Wausau Daily Herald story from Tuesday that finally solved the "mystery" of whether McCartney had really been in Wisconsin last week.

No offense to those Catholics who were heartened by the prospect of Pope John Paul II’s image appearing in a commemorative bonfire in Poland last April, but the UK’s Times Online has helpfully offered some other possibilities as to who else, besides the departed pontiff, may have materialized in that mystical blaze.

Julian Lennon Quits Smoking

Julian Lennon has followed in the footsteps of his late father's Beatle bandmates by giving up smoking.

The musician has given up the habit after 25-years - something his father John failed to achieve during his lifetime.

He says, "I'm no longer a smoker for sure now, and I'm feeling pretty positive about the future. Smoking had been my crutch for many years. I could hide behind a cigarette."

The two musicians met up recently when Pete interviewed the ex-Beatle for a magazine.

The bizarre present was carefully chosen by the Babyshambles frontman, 28, who said he wanted to buy his idol a unique gift.

'It's a silver chip fork,' Pete told Paul during their chat for the Observer Music Monthly.

'I bought it for you. I wondered, “What can I get a Scouser who's got everything already?” And then I had an idea.'

The quaint offering went down quite well with Paul who was surprised but touched.

The Beatles legend - who split from Heather in May 2006 following a four-year marriage - was advised to initially offer the tiny slice of his £825 million fortune, but Heather's legal team "laughed off" the sum and demanded £25 million.

A source told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "Paul, on the advice of his lawyer Fiona Shackleton, originally offered Heather between £3 and £5 million. But there was no way Heather's legal team were going to accept that.

"Heather's lawyer Anthony Julius laughed off the sum and decided to play hard ball, he knows how Shackleton works. There has been serious wrangling going on behind the scenes for months. This is the closest they have been to settling."

Heather is still said to be refusing to sign a confidentiality clause, preventing her from speaking about their marriage. Her lawyers are now urging her to accept Paul's generous £25 million offer
in return for her silence. The source added: "It's unlikely a judge would award Heather any more money and her lawyers know that. It's a very generous settlement. They were only married for four years and he built up the bulk of her fortune before they met.

"She can walk away now, knowing she can start getting on with her life."Heather is expected to accept the offer by the end of the week. Paul is anxious to hammer out the divorce deal in private and avoid an expensive and potentially embarrassing public court hearing.

The animal rights activist beat the late Anna Nicole Smith to take the maximum votes in the survey of 2,000 British Internet users.

OnePoll spokesman John Sewell said that that is no surprise that Mills emerged the winner.

Just when it seemed like Across the Universe would be the first flop for the Beatles since, well, ever, it turns out teenage girls nationwide are now frantically texting one another to go see the semi-new musical, thanks to a soft spot for actress Evan Rachel Wood and Lennon/McCartney songs. The film finally appeared on the box office top ten this past week.

I didn't and I don't really care much about this movie (actually, I won't see it until it comes out on DVD xD) so... it's starting to annoy me the huge importance Beatles' fans have put on it, it's only a movie with Beatles' soundtrack, I rather watch I Am Sam, that's a (wonderful) better choice!!!, but I should shut up 'cause I might watch it some day and actually like it.... we never know.

There was an element of Satyricon, although that overstates the case a bit. But there were certainly some elements that you wouldn't talk about in the newspapers. Privately, I could tell a tale or two [laughs]. The funny thing is when later the rumour came out that John was gay, I said: 'I don't think so.' I mean, I don't know what he did when he went to New York, but certainly not in any of my experiences. We used to sleep together, top and tail it, you know. I always used to say: 'Come on, I would have spotted something here.' But what I spotted was completely the opposite. It was just chicks, chicks, chicks.

Yoko Ono joined by Ringo Starr for Peace Tower unveiling

Yoko Ono has been joined by former Beatles drummer Ringo Starr for the unveiling of the Imagine Peace Tower in Iceland.

Ono lit up the tower on Videy Island near Reykjavik as a choir sang Lennon's 1975 song 'Imagine', reports BBC News.

She was also accompanied by her son Sean Lennon and George Harrison's widow, Olivia.

Starr said: "We're all here for Johnny's birthday and the big light... I love the light."

The tower is a beam of light radiating from a wishing well, which is engraved with the words "imagine peace" in 24 languages.

It will be lit each year between Lennon's birthday, 9 October, and the anniversary of his death on 8 December.

Ono, who designed the monument 40 years ago, said: "I got the idea because I just liked the romantic idea of having a building that just appears, emerges once in a while but sometimes it is not seen."

Mills Came Late

DANCING with the Stars" producers had no intention of casting Heather Mills in last season's show - until they read a report linking Paul McCartney's soon-to-be ex to the ABC show.

Then the bells went off.

John Lennon Making Visits From Beyond The Grave?

New York, NY (BANG) - John Lennon has visited his son Julian Lennon from beyond the grave. Julian was left shocked by the haunting moment which occurred more than 25 years after the Beatles legend's death while he was shooting a new film in Australia recently.

Julian, who agreed to take part in an ancient ceremony with an Aboriginal tribe, was left speechless when he was handed a white feather by a tribe elder, a symbol of great significance to him.

A source told Britain's Daily Express newspaper: It may sound strange but that was a very weird and emotional moment for Julian. He was left speechless. Not long before he died, John had told him,

'If anything ever happens to me, look for a white feather and you will know I am there for you, always looking out for you.'"

Fellow Beatle Sir Paul McCartney believes John appeared to the band in the form of a white peacock during the recording of the 1995 Beatles single 'Free as a Bird'.

"We felt that all through the recording. We put one of those spoof backwards recordings on the end of the single for a laugh, to give all those Beatles nuts something to do."

Paul McCartney tells of divorce 'hell'

I just found this article about Paul and his divorce and some other things I thought were interesting to post.

Sir Paul McCartney has told how music and his children help to keep him going through the "hell" of his divorce.
"It's been a difficult time. But music is a great healer. Music is the therapy for me. In fact, going through difficulties has only concentrated my desire to make good music," he told the Radio Times magazine.

"Going through a divorce is a very painful thing," the former Beatle said in the interview to be published tomorrow. "As Winston Churchill once said, 'If you're going through hell, keep going!' The only solution is to remain dignified. If I don't keep a silence about it, I lose this idea of being dignified.

But what I found really really cute was THIS:

I've just seen this video over JohnHeartPaul, they say it's from the day of his court date. Isn't Paul just a cutie? he's polite even when he's asking them to get the f** off. Even though I guess I've never heard him like that before... angry Paulie!. What do you think guys? :D
